Imagine Capital Campaign
The campaign was a huge success. Raising $23M, three million over
the initial goal, and earning 2 Gold and 3 Silver ADDY awards.
Project overview:
The Brief: The Woodlands UMC set out to raise $20M through their 2012 Capital Campaign. Seems like most church capital campaigns are pretty cut and dry, "Here's what we're doing. Whether you like it or not." That's an approach we wanted to stay away from.
Our goal was to give the congregation a sense of ownership. We asked them to tell us what THEY imagined. We featured them in original photography and made them an integral part of our campaign.
Details: We broke the campaign up into three separate sections, Worship - Grow - Reach, which address the three stages of the campaign.
Worship - The good news is that The Woodlands UMC is growing. The bad news is that they're quickly running out of space. To remedy that they've decided to build a new contemporary worship venue. They're scheduled to break ground in September 2013.
Grow - The Woodlands UMC is also home to Children of The Woodlands and the newly established Woodlands Methodist School. Part of the Imagine Campaign includes the building of a new Family Life Center. The FLC will include more classroom space, a new library, and new gym.
Reach - The Woodlands UMC has a burden to spread the gospel around the corner and around the world. A portion of the money raised through the campaign will be used here locally to help smaller, surrounding churches with larger projects they may not be able to take on themselves. On a global level, the money pledged will send national pastors in India to seminary.
Results: The campaign was a huge success. Raising $23M, three million over the initial goal, and earning 2 Gold and 3 Silver ADDY awards.
